Lionel started working with recovering addicts 8 years ago when he opened House on the Grove, a halfway house in Orange Grove. House on the Grove has been a safe halfway house where recovering addicts have been given the opportunity to learn personal responsibility in a safe, nurturing and comfortable environment. House on the Grove has provided a homely environment where clients have been a part of a recovery community. Lionel has attended numerous addiction specific counseling courses and has a deep understanding of the needs of recovering addicts. He attended the South African College of Applied Psychology where he received his higher certificate in counselling. Lionel has put in many passionate hours to create New Day, the same way he put in the time and energy to create House on the Grove.
Taine has been actively working in the industry for 7 years. Taine started attending counselling courses and has over 300 hours of addiction specific courses. She started her career working with adolescents. She did her practical training at various schools and assisted to develop and run an adolescent program for a halfway house she was managing at the time. She then moved into working in an in-patient facility and has been working with inpatient clients for the last 6 years. Subsequently she has graduated with a degree in social work and wants to focus on the continuum of care with recovering addicts and to develop and grow a recovery community in the south of Johannesburg.
