Individual Therapy

Individual therapy offers individual guidance where one can tackle issues which may be at the heart of a substance abuse problem. Individual therapy allows for the space and opportunity to look deep into the role that substances have had in your life. Individual therapy allows the space for self-discovery in a safe and non-judgemental environment where people can find inspiration to recover. This can then lead to a stronger sense of self-worth and self-efficacy.

In individual therapy, a client works with a mental health professional one-on-one to gain self-awareness, insight and empowerment. Sessions can be held in a therapists office, but sometimes can be held in a meeting room. A therapy session lasts from 45 minutes to an hour. Frequency of sessions is dependent on the needs of the client, but it will most likely be one session a week.

Individual Therapy sessions are structured according to the needs of the client and may touch on various topics that are client centred and client motivated. The therapist will work with the client to identify goals and evaluate progress. Therapists do not condemn, judge, criticise or dictate to the client. Instead, they work with the client in order to empower the client to move forward in their recoveries.

New Day offers various resources; one of these resources is individual therapy.

Individual therapy offers a safe space for clients to explore their experiences and re-frame in order to find closure and resolution to enhance and develop themselves personally.

Individual therapy allows clients the opportunity to gain empowerment which fosters change.
